FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NEW BOSTON MINUTEMAN COUNCIL, BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA WEB SITE DEVELOPED BY SYNTHENET CORPORATION
NORTHBOROUGH, MA December 2, 2004 - Synthenet Corporation, a full service web development firm, announced the completion of the development and design of the new Boston Minuteman Council, Boy Scouts of America (BSA) web site (www.bsaboston.org)
The Boston Minuteman Council, BSA is geographically comprised of Boston and approximately 30 adjacent communities. The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
“The Boston Minuteman Council, BSA, membership has grown tremendously and our website plays a crucial role in communicating with our growing family. We needed to update our site so it better reflected our evolving image and add new functions to address the growing demands of our audience,” remarked John Garee, Director of Field Service for the Boston Minuteman Council. Garee continued, “We now have a site that is easy to update and accessible by many different areas of Scouting, where solid communications are key. The event calendar, online event registration tool, the e-newsletter function, and the new council e-store have brought considerable services to our users. We're very proud to show off our newly revised web site and Synthenet's solutions.”
Synthenet developed the Boston Minuteman Council's web site using their Online Management System, with easy to use navigation tools and bold new images. The sharp new design is more reflective of their mission and personality; and the new web site provides a wealth of new functionality to both the staff and visitors to the site.
With access to press releases, newsletters, calendars, event and program or activity news, visitors now have all the information they need at their fingertips. In addition, visitors are now able to conduct transactions; whether they need to sign up for an activity, pay for a program, or buy emblems for their troop, these transactions can now be conducted in a timely and efficient manner.
“It is always rewarding when a prior client returns to us when their site needs updating. Having worked with the Boston Minuteman Council, BSA to create their first generation site allowed us a unique understanding of their primary objectives for the new web site,” explained Rodney Capron, Jr., President & Founder of Synthenet. Capron continued, “An incredible amount of critical information is now organized and easy to find through our custom designed, user friendly navigation system. We enjoy taking on these challenging projects and take special pleasure in assisting non-profit organizations.”
The new Modules allow for a better visitor and staff experience. Staff can now market activities and events, track what is of interest to visitors and tailor content, and communicate in a more timely and efficient manner. The staff can also track what products are most popular, and what activities and programs visitors prefer and make adjustments in a timely manner to accommodate changing demands. The addition of the Survey Module also allows for the staff to gain a better understanding of the needs of their members and make necessary changes to help better meet the mission of the organization.
The design and functionality of the Boy Scouts web site is being made available by Synthenet as a template to other Boy Scout organizations. This provides a tremendous on-line resource to these organizations at a fraction of what a customized project would normally cost. The National Capital Area Council, based in Maryland, is the other Boy Scouts council currently using the Synthenet system.
In addition to the design and development of the Boston Minuteman Council, BSA web site, Synthenet Corporation also provided testing of the site prior to launch, training for staff and ongoing support for the Online Management System application.
