Synthenet Helps SFS Showcase their Field Station Studies through New Web Site
NORTHBOROUGH, MA September 19, 2003 - Synthenet Corporation, a full service web development firm, announced that they completed the development and design of the School for Field Studies Web Site (www.fieldstudies.org). They believe that everyone has a valuable role to play in helping to protect the environment for future generations of plant, animal and human life on earth. Kenya, Mexico, Costa Rica, The Turks & Caicos Islands, and Australia, aren't just exotic names on the map - they are places where the SFS students and faculty work together to help communities solve environmental problems. They are the places where people can make important contributions toward conserving precious natural resources, and find the opportunity of a lifetime.
By using the Synthenet Content Management System, the staff at SFS can add, remove, and edit content, forms, documents, and images at any time to keep the site up to date. Synthenet's Form Builder within the Content Management System allows users to create forms (i.e. Request a Catalog) in a matter of minutes. Using “Elements” functionality SFS can upload desired photos to coordinate with their site design. “This site puts us so far ahead of all of our competition and is a work of art in its own right. People are really blown away with the design and functionality.” said Ola Russell, Director of Institutional Relations and Marketing.
Visitors to the site have the ability to sign up for a variety of newsletters, published on a regular basis by SFS through the Messaging module. Subscribers can view electronic mailings in both plain text and html format. This is a way for SFS to keep their students, alumni, and supporters updated about the happenings at the field stations, as well as new programs and events. The message tracking system provides SFS with information to use in future marketing efforts.
A custom application was developed to offer SFS Alumni a way to register on the web site and provide a profile of them selves, which would become part of an Alumni Database. Through a login on the web site, Alumni have the ability search for and see information on other SFS Alumni.
