Since 1980, The School for Field Studies has been teaching students to address critical environmental problems using an interdisciplinary, experiential approach to education. SFS has Field Stations in Kenya, Australia, Turks & Caicos, Costa Rica and Mexico. The existing School for Fields Studies web site did not allow the organization to offer the broad range of information that they wanted to get out to their students, prospective students and benefactors. They were also in the process of changing their entire look - including their logo, colors and branding. The School for Field Studies approached Synthenet to create a web site that would allow them to effectively communicate and promote their organization to undergraduate college students and key stakeholders. Since the content would need to change on almost a daily basis, they needed a way to update the site quickly and easily. Synthenet redesigned the SFS web site in Content Management System v.6.0 with a bright, sophisticated look and feel, easy to use navigation and an abundance of striking images to showcase their field station offerings. A custom application was developed to offer SFS Alumni a way to register on the web site and provide a profile of themselves, which would become part of an Alumni Database. Through a login on the web site, Alumni have the ability search for and see information on other SFS Alumni. The School for Field Studies web site is not only beautiful to look at, it now contains a wealth of information - over 1000 pages - easily accessed in a variety of ways through the various navigation elements. Photo galleries interspersed throughout the site showcase the Field Stations and depict the students at work and play. SFS has the ability to change and add images within these galleries, as well as adding additional galleries, quickly and easily. Visitors to the site have the ability to sign up for a variety of newsletters, published on a regular basis by SFS through the Messaging Module. The message tracking system provides SFS with information to use in future marketing efforts. When my company was finally able to develop a new website, we had high expectations (and needs!) but of course, pretty limited resources. Synthenet was able to deliver an incredibly robust and beautiful website that exceeded all of our expectations, and within budget. Our company reviewed proposals from several web developers, but none offered a content management product to match that of Synthenet, and the customer support has been fantastic. This is a higly creative, energetic and talented group -- I recommend their products and services to anyone, both large companies and small.
