FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Synthenet Corporation Content Management System Version 5.0 Released
Northborough, MA February 10, 2003 - Synthenet Corporation, a full service web development firm, completed the development of the newest version of their comprehensive, customizable Content Management System - v5.0.
The Content Management System was developed in early 2001 and has undergone substantial changes and enhancements since its inception two years ago. Over 50% of Synthenet's clients are using the Content Management System in its various versions.
In this extremely user-friendly application, clients (including non-technical staff), have complete control over their web site content through a web browser interface. Although the Content Management System is a stand-alone application in and of itself, it is customized to each client's specific web site needs.
In addition to the existing functions of the Content Management System (The site's sections, pages and content are created, edited, moved and deleted within a collapsible/expandable “tree” environment), Synthenet has enhanced the following functionality:
- Image and Document Trees allow the user to upload an image or document once and re-use throughout the entire site as many times as desired.
- Content Revision Control: Three versions of content revisions are saved in various areas (general tab - page title, headline, etc. and content tab - page contents).
- Ability to create and manage secure content through password controlled role-based account login.
- Link Management: If a user attempts to delete a page that is linked to other pages, a list of pages containing links are displayed so the links can be deleted and will not result in broken links on the site.
- Page caching: Information on end user pages becomes “cached” after the first viewing, resulting in significantly decreased download time the next time that page is visited.
- Built-in page elements dictate styles for look and feel, allowing for design flexibility and easy graphical updates to the site.
- Indexes allow the user to build a "list" of pages within a page. This is useful when there are several areas under one page and it is desired to keep main navigation uncluttered (i.e. a customer service page may list several items such as FAQs, shipping and handling information, returns, refunds, etc.). When the same type of index is to be used on multiple pages, the indexes may be auto-generated to save time.
In addition to the existing E-Commerce and E-Communications (bulk electronic mailings) Modules for the Content Management System, Synthenet has introduced the following modules:
- Form/Survey Builder allows user to create html forms and surveys on end user pages within a matter of minutes. The user chooses from various field types (dropdown menus, radio buttons, check boxes, etc.) and assigns desired text to the fields. Form results may be e-mailed to a designated e-mail address. A pie chart interface displays survey results in the administration.
- Events Calendar allows the user to enter events based on date. A graphical calendar highlights dates that contain events. The user may click on a date and view the event for that date. All events are searchable and results are sortable by event, date and venue.
Enhancements to the E-Commerce Module include:
- Non-Taxable Product Type: An item such as a membership or donation may be combined with taxable items in the shopping cart and tax will not be calculated on that item.
- Non-Shippable Product Type: An item which is either not shippable (i.e. membership or donation), or for which shipping is included in the price of the item. These items may be added to the shopping cart with items that have applicable shipping charges, and shipping will not be calculated.
- Role-Based Accounts: Discounts, special area access rights and other benefits may be offered based on account role (i.e. members receive discounts and access password protected areas of the site).
- Discount Structure: Product discounts may be based on a flat dollar-off amount per item; an overall percentage or two entirely separate prices (retail price/discount price).
